Questions people ask

Do I have to pay for a financial counsellor?

No. Financial counselling is free, confidential and independent. Financial counsellors don’t sell anything and don’t lend money.

My power is about to be cut off.

Call your energy company today and ask for their hardship program. Most must offer help to customers who are struggling to pay, and must follow rules before cutting you off. Not sure what to say? Come in and we’ll call with you.

Should I use a payday loan or buy now, pay later?

Talk to us or the National Debt Helpline first. These can cost much more than they seem. A no-interest loan is often a better choice.

Not sure? Just come in.

Tell us what’s going on, in your own words. If it’s more than one thing, that’s normal. We’ll work it out together.
